RailsConf 2006: Day 0

I left my home and family early Thursday morning to board a plane for Chicago to attend RailsConf 2006. I didn't even get to say goodbye to my daughter. But I was up half the night getting her bottles so you can argue we spent a little quality time before I left. :) This will be my second trip to the windy city, but the schedule at RailsConf is so packed that I don't anticipate I'll be doing much sight seeing.

Once in Chicago I learned that the audio for the presentations will be available for an extra $50. I'm a little disappointed by the lack of transparency. The audio and video of RubyConf 2005 was freely available, and I'm not sure why Ruby Central decided to make the change. I suspect there is a valid reason for the extra cost, and the slides and audio will be synched, but I'm still disappointed that I'm learning this the day I arrived. I would have thought these costs would be included in the cost of the conference. But I haven't been to many conferences so what do I know...
